Major Incidents in February

February 13, 1910 Box 56-0020-Welch's Stables destroyed at foot of Union And Broad St. Many horses lost; Big Jim the fire horse saved. Stables total loss.

February 15, 1938 Box 16-0100-Mutual Aid to Watch Hill Business district (Bay St) 5 Business Blocks destroyed along with 4 cottages. Westerly provided mutual aid.

February 15, 1943 Box 45-1800-Boarding House (Riverside Inn) Beach and Margin st. 3 story 15 room Boarding house. Fire in extremely cold weather with snow.

February 16, 1960 Box 1123-0150-Morrone's Garage 100 Main St (Avies) Fire destroyed front office and loft storage area. 2 Westerly ambulances saved but Corps radio equipment destroyed.

February 18, 1969 Boxes 3152 and 3211-1435-Collings Moving and Storage Warehouse Ledward Ave. Last fire pumped by the Ahrens Fox. Warehouse and contents destroyed.

February 10, 1983 Box 513-0759-Westerly High School Fire in the auditorium, fire confined to curtains and window casings.

February 20, 1999 Box 17-1543-Mutual Aid to Bradford- Brush fire on several acres off Westerly-Bradford Rd. Multiple Mutual aid to scene with tankers and brush trucks.

February 4, 2004 Box 1313-1547-Shetucket Plumbing Cross St Warehouse fire. Warehouse severely damaged, all contents lost; Mutual aid from Pawcatuck, Ashaway, And Stonigton Boro. Dunn's Corners provided station coverage. Scene not cleared until February 5, 2004 at 1609.

February 12, 2011 Box 4115-1635-20 Pleasant St, 3 story multi family house. Heavy fire showing on arrival 2nd and 3rd floors. Structure total loss.

February 18, 2011 Box 1125-0631-117 Main St, 3 story multi family house. Smoke and fire showing 3rd floor.

February 10, 2016- New Special Hazards Unit placed in service.
