| Last night, Saturday 2/28/26, we gathered for our Annual Banquet to celebrate another year of service, dedication, and pride within the Westerly Fire Department.
Congratulations to this year’s award recipients:
*Officer’s Award – Mike Marconi *Dedicated Service Award – Sarah Britner *Firefighter of the Year – Eric Fusaro
Each of these members exemplifies the commitment, professionalism, and teamwork that define our department.
This year also marked continued growth for our department, as we proudly welcomed seven new volunteer members into our ranks and celebrated the return of two members who rejoined our organization. Their decision to serve strengthens our future and reflects the strong tradition and culture of the WFD.
We also recognized our top three members in total points for 2025, reflecting exceptional response, training, and overall performance throughout the year:
*FF Dennis Algiers with 771 points *Capt. Eric Fallon with 765 points *Asst. Chief Joe Fusaro with 756 points
Their consistency and work ethic set the tone for the entire organization.
A truly special part of the evening was honoring our Guest of Honor, Retired Asst. Chief Louis “Jay” Trebisacci, as he marks his retirement. Jay joined the Cyclone Steam Fire Engine Co. 2 on July 14, 1988, and has dedicated nearly four decades to the Westerly Fire Department. He served as Foreman from 2003 through 2005 and as Assistant Chief from September 16, 2009 through August 8, 2025. Now a Life Member entering his 38th year with the WFD, Jay’s leadership, mentorship, and steady presence have made a lasting impact on this department and the many members who have served alongside him. We thank him for his extraordinary commitment and congratulate him on an incredible career.
We were also honored to have officials from the Westerly Fire District in attendance, along with leadership from our neighboring departments — Pawcatuck Fire, Dunn’s Corners Fire, and Misquamicut Fire. Your continued partnership and support strengthen the entire fire service community in our region.
Congratulations again to all who were recognized, and sincere thanks for every member for the countless hours of volunteer service you dedicate to protecting and serving the Westerly Fire District. |
