On Tuesday, December 9, 2025, the Westerly Fire Department proudly hosted a formal Promotional Ceremony to recognize two members who have already spent months excelling in their new leadership roles. Surrounded by fellow firefighters, family members, and friends, the department honored Captain Eric Fallon and Lieutenant Stephen Aylward in a tradition-rich ceremony that highlighted both their service and their ongoing contributions to the department’s legacy.

Captain Eric Fallon, promoted effective October 7, 2025, has served the Westerly Fire Department since 1988, holding numerous ranks including Firefighter, 2nd Assistant, 1st Assistant, three-time Foreman of Alert Hook & Ladder Co. 1, and Department Lieutenant. He also retired from the Providence Fire Department after a distinguished 30-year career, bringing with him invaluable training, experience, and a commitment to mentoring others. Captain Fallon was pinned by Deanna and joined by Deanna and their son Luke.

Lieutenant Stephen Aylward, promoted effective November 11, 2025, has been a dedicated member of the department since 2020. His service includes roles as Firefighter, Department Secretary, and his current position as President of the Westerly Veteran Firefighters Association. As one of the original mentors in the WFD Mentor Program, Stephen has played a key role in shaping new members by instilling the values, expectations, and traditions of the department. His quiet, consistent dedication—whether maintaining equipment, supporting fire prevention efforts, or stepping up wherever needed—has made a lasting impact on the organization. Lt. Aylward was pinned by Samantha and joined by Samantha, Charlotte, and Thomas.

The ceremony underscored not only Eric’s and Stephen’s accomplishments, but also the longstanding traditions that define the Westerly Fire Department. Their leadership, professionalism, and devotion to service continue to strengthen the department and the community it serves.
