October 18, 1907-Box 52-Kenyon’s Carriage Shop on Main St. was destroyed by fire.

October 12, 1909-Box-71-House 76 Pierce St., Costanzo Nigrelli was destroyed. Two other homes suffered damage.

October 22,1909-Box 57- -British Club, Potter-Langworthy Building, High St. suffered damage.

October 18, 1913-Box 52–Fenelon Block on Main St. suffered heavy damage.

October19, 1916-Box 33—Watch Hill House was ablaze when Watch Hill arrived. Mutual aid summoned from Misquamicut, Westerly, Pawcatuck, Stonington Borough, and Mystic Fire Departments. The Watch Hill House was located on Bluff Ave next to the Watch Hill Chapel. The fire was discovered at 5:00pm and spread rapidly through the hotel and to the Colonial and Columbia Houses thanks in part to winds over 50 mph. several cottages were also destroyed. Two Mystic firefighters were severely burned many other firefighters were also injured. Soldiers from Fort Mansfield assisted as did men stationed at the Coast Guard Life Saving Station. The fire was not completely extinguished until the next day.

October 31, 1935-Box 33-0530-Hillside Ave Hopkinton; 2 houses destroyed. The Ahrens Fox pumper of the Cyclones and the Ford Brush truck were dispatched to the fire as at this time Ashaway had no organized fire protection.

October 16, 1941-Box 33-0530-Mutual Aid Fall River Massachusetts Firestone Rubber Plant General alarm fire. The Ahrens Fox and Seagrave along with about 20 men under Chief Pasetti responded. The Seagrave suffered a mechanical problem early in the run and returned to Westerly. The Ahrens Fox arrived in Fall River and was placed in reserve (staging). The Westerly firefighters returned after about 5 hours.

October 31, 1945-Box 76-2300-White Rock, 3 story house, top 2 floors gutted; 3 children carried from house by firefighters.

October 30, 1962-Box 3153-0555-Highland Ave, House Fire; fire extended from cellar up the rear wall to roof.

October 30, 1962-Box 4414-0620-Ashaway Rd near meeting house bridge, house fire 1 room and contents. Men and equipment were released from the above fire and Pawcatuck was requested with one engine to respond.

October 25,1972-Box 1253-1000-Burger Chef restaurant on Granite St, was heavily damaged. Firefighters were quick to respond as they were conducting a Fire Prevention demonstration to the public.

The next four entries were responded to in 15 hour period beginning with the first entry:

October 13, 1987-Box 4214-1511-White Rock, 11 Wall St fire in Basement. fire was confined to refuse stored in the basement. Smoke and water damage was evident in the first floor and basement.

October 13,1987-Box 571-2048-Moore’s Mill, 48 Canal St, was severely damaged by fire when oil in the separator ductwork caught fire. heavy damage to one machine and extensive damage to the separator and ductwork on the roof. Westerly was aided by Pawcatuck and Hope Valley Fire departments.

October 14,1987-Box 3141-0318-10 Chester Ave, chimney fire extends to 2nd floor

October 14,1987-Box 4113-0956-69 Pleasant St, Stove fire fire caused damage to the kitchen.

October 19, 1995-Box 3111-0052-31 Canal St, structure fire, heavy damage 2nd floor and attic. One firefighter suffered a fractured shoulder when he fell from the ladder truck.

October12, 1999-Box 1328-2334-Westerly State Airport, plane fire at Reeve’s Air.

October 25, 2005-SIGNAL 7(BOMB SCARE)-2030 Amtrak North bound train, train moved from station to area along Westerly-Bradford Rd. All occupants evacuated at Station.

October 31, 2010-Box 4517-0309-7 Ledgewood Dr, fully involved house discovered by people on Route 78.

October 14, 2012-Box 3141-2036-51 Granite St., fire on 3rd floor and roof 3-story Victorian, PFD 1 engine & tower responded. Fire confined to 3rooms and corresponding attic spaces.

October 29, 2012-Hurricane (Super-storm Sandy) numerous responses to trees and wires down as well as trees into structures, no major incidents.

October 4, 2014-Box 1143-1746-Westerly Marina, 41 Margin St. Boat Fire-20 foot Boston Whaler. There was no extension to other boats or the dock area.

October 16, 2016-MVA-1950-12 Watch Hill Rd. Extrication required for 2 of 5 victims. SUV went down an embankment hitting a tree and sliding into a home on Watch Hill Road. 56 minute extrication time for driver. Westerly Ambulance responded with 3 ambulances while Charlestown and Stonington each responded with one.

October 28,2018-HAZMAT-1512-97 Ashaway Rd.. Unknown chemicals and electronic equipment were discovered by Westerly Police, RI DEM Hazmat, RI Bomb Squad, Providence Canteen. as well as the Hope Valley Fire Department hazmat team and the DECON team from Kingston Fire Department responded.

October14, 2019-Box 1352-1625-54 Tum-A-Lum Circle Structure fire in a 2-story single family home. 1 fatality.
