WFD Assists in Water Search at Stonington Town Dock

Stonington, CT — January 25, 2026 — At 4:52 a.m., Westerly Dispatch alerted volunteer crews to respond with the Aqua Eye to the Stonington Town Dock, at the request of Car 31. Squad 3 responded promptly with a full crew.

Upon arrival, crews deployed the Aqua Eye and operated in two-person teams outfitted in Mustang Ice Commander survival suits, working from the NRS ASR 155 rescue boat to conduct a systematic search for a reported victim in the water. Despite extremely challenging weather conditions, responders worked for several hours in a coordinated multi-agency effort. Westerly Fire Department operated alongside the following agencies:
• Stonington Borough Fire Dept
• Pawcatuck Fire Department
• Old Mystic Fire Department
• Taftville/Yantic Dive Team
• Stonington Police Department
• Connecticut State Police
• United States Coast Guard
• Stonington Ambulance Corps, Inc.
